Quick answer: An MCP server lets an AI assistant read from and act inside an app. As of October 2026, 24 major business apps run a live, official, vendor-hosted MCP server, all listed in Claude's connectors directory (Claude calls MCP servers "connectors"). They include Notion, Slack, Jira and Confluence, Linear, Asana, monday.com, ClickUp, HubSpot, Salesforce, Intercom, Zoom, Zapier, Stripe, PayPal, Shopify, Canva, Figma, Webflow, Airtable, Box, GitHub, Sentry, Supabase and PostHog. Square is in beta, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are in preview, and Zendesk hasn't released one. We list 16 more, including Attio, Pipedrive and DocuSign, further down.

Top picks by use case

  • CRM: HubSpot (works on free accounts); Salesforce for enterprise sales orgs
  • Project management: Linear for product teams; monday.com on every plan, including Free (Viewer seats excluded)
  • Docs and wiki: Notion; Atlassian if you're on Jira and Confluence
  • Team chat and meetings: Slack and Zoom
  • Payments: Stripe
  • Design: Canva for marketing; Figma for product design
  • Everything else: Zapier, one connection to 9,000+ apps
  • Developers: GitHub, Sentry and Supabase, plus Vercel and Cloudflare in the second table

Status: "GA" means the vendor labels it generally available; "Live" means the vendor documents it for production use without a GA or beta label; "Live (early)" means production-ready but with the vendor still flagging early issues. In the second table, "some tools beta" means the server is live but individual tools are in beta, and "new" is the vendor's own label. Free plan: "Yes, with limits" means the server works on a free plan or account but caps usage or gates some tools; "Not stated" means the vendor's docs don't say, so test with one account before rolling out to a team. Launch and GA dates, where vendors give them, are in each entry below.

How we picked: an MCP server counts as official only if the vendor builds and maintains it and documents it on its own domain. Community-built servers, however popular, are excluded. We read each vendor's documentation, changelog or help centre on 10 October 2026 and record status, endpoint, sign-in and plan rules exactly as the vendor states them. The entries are grouped by the job they do; the numbers are for navigation, not a ranking. Our picks by use case are at the top of the page.

Why this list matters: what changed for MCP in 2026

  • Vendor-hosted servers are replacing self-run ones. Many early MCP servers were open-source projects you ran on your own computer with an API key. Every live server in our main table is now hosted by the vendor, and for most you paste one URL into your assistant and sign in. Notion says its open-source local server is no longer actively maintained, and Box has deprecated its self-hosted server in favour of the remote one. Linear and Intercom now mark their older SSE endpoints as deprecated.
  • Many "best MCP servers" lists are written for developers. They rank coding tools such as browser automation, file-system and documentation servers. Founders, ops and go-to-market teams need a different answer: which of the tools they already pay for can an AI assistant read from and act in.
  • Plan access is the hidden catch. monday.com, ClickUp, Airtable, Canva, Figma, GitHub, HubSpot, Supabase and PostHog open their servers on free plans, Stripe's works on any Stripe account, and Zapier MCP is on every plan at 2 tasks per call. Box needs a Business plan, Zoom a paid licence and Microsoft 365 a Copilot licence. ClickUp caps Free Forever at 100 calls a day, and Figma gives View and Collab seats 20 calls a month.
  • Write access is now normal, with guardrails. Most servers create and update records, not just read them. Vendors add their own limits: HubSpot asks for confirmation before creating or updating, Stripe sends refunds to a human approval link, ClickUp ships no delete tools, and Linear, GitHub, Supabase and PostHog offer read-only modes.
  • MCP is a neutral standard now. Anthropic released MCP in November 2024 and in December 2025 donated it to the Agentic AI Foundation, a Linux Foundation directed fund co-founded with Block and OpenAI. Because MCP is an open protocol, the same server can work in any MCP-compatible client, including Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Cursor and VS Code, subject to each client's plan rules.

Work management and docs

1. Atlassian (Jira and Confluence): best for teams on Jira

Does Jira have an MCP server? Yes. The Atlassian Rovo MCP Server went GA on 4 February 2026 and covers Jira and Confluence in one connection. It searches, reads and writes issues and pages, and also reaches Compass, Jira Service Management and Bitbucket (the last two by API token). Sign in with OAuth 2.1, or use an API token if an org admin enables it. The first person to approve access installs the app for the whole site.

Try asking: "Summarise every Jira bug opened this sprint and link the related Confluence spec."

Best for: product and engineering teams that track work in Jira and document it in Confluence.

2. Linear: best for fast-moving product teams

Does Linear have an MCP server? Yes. Linear's MCP server launched on 1 May 2025 and finds, creates and updates issues, projects and comments. A separate read-only endpoint (/mcp/readonly) suits assistants that should look but not touch. It accepts OAuth 2.1 or an API key.

Try asking: "Create a Linear issue for the checkout bug and assign it to this cycle."

Best for: startups that want an assistant to file and triage issues from chat.

3. Asana: best for cross-functional project tracking

Does Asana have an MCP server? Yes. Asana's V2 server, GA since February 2026, creates and manages tasks and projects and produces reports and summaries. Enterprise+ admins can allow or block specific AI clients. The beta V1 endpoint is retired, so use the /v2/mcp URL.

Try asking: "Which Asana tasks in the launch project are overdue, and who owns them?"

Best for: marketing and ops teams that plan work in Asana.

4. monday.com: best free-plan access for work management

Does monday.com have an MCP server? Yes. The monday.com MCP server is preinstalled on every account at no extra cost and exposes 60+ tools to read and write boards, items, columns and updates. Viewers can't use it, and calls count against the account's daily API limit.

Try asking: "Add a monday.com item for each lead in this list and set status to New."

Best for: teams on any monday.com plan, including free.

5. ClickUp: best for all-in-one workspaces

Does ClickUp have an MCP server? Yes. ClickUp's server covers tasks, docs, time tracking, search and chat summaries, and deliberately has no delete tools. It's on every plan, with a daily cap per workspace: 100 calls on Free Forever, 300 on Unlimited, 1,000 on Business, rising to 25,000 on Enterprise Plus.

Try asking: "Summarise yesterday's ClickUp comments on the Q4 roadmap doc."

Best for: small teams that want one AI connection across tasks and docs.

6. Notion: best for company wikis and docs

Does Notion have an MCP server? Yes. Notion MCP searches, reads, creates and updates pages and databases, and uploads files up to 20 MiB. It acts with each user's full Notion permissions. Admin controls, such as an approved-clients list and audit log, are Enterprise only. Notion's older open-source local server is no longer actively maintained.

Try asking: "Find our Notion onboarding page and draft a version for contractors."

Best for: teams whose knowledge base, specs and meeting notes live in Notion.

Communication and meetings

7. Slack: best for searching and drafting team conversations

Does Slack have an MCP server? Yes. The Slack MCP server, announced in February 2026, searches messages, files, users and channels, reads threads, and sends, schedules or drafts messages. A workspace admin must approve it. Slack names Claude and ChatGPT among its partner apps, so most teams won't need to build anything.

Try asking: "Catch me up on #product from the last three days and draft a reply to open questions."

Best for: catching up on channels and drafting replies without leaving your assistant.

8. Zoom: best for meeting summaries and transcripts

Does Zoom have an MCP server? Yes. Zoom's MCP servers read meeting summaries, transcripts and recordings and handle scheduling, with regional endpoints including the US, EU and India. You need a paid Zoom licence. Custom setups also need a General app registered on the Zoom Marketplace.

Try asking: "Pull the action items from this morning's Zoom call with Acme."

Best for: turning meetings into follow-ups and CRM notes.

CRM, sales and support

9. HubSpot: best CRM server on a free plan

Does HubSpot have an MCP server? Yes. HubSpot's remote MCP server went GA on 13 April 2026 and is available to all HubSpot accounts, including free. It reads and writes CRM records and activities, plus pages, blogs, campaigns and email drafts, and asks for confirmation before creating or updating anything. Some tools need paid Hubs; AEO tools, for example, need Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise.

Try asking: "Which HubSpot deals over $10,000 haven't had activity in 30 days?"

Best for: startups that run sales and marketing on HubSpot.

10. Salesforce: best for enterprise CRM

Does Salesforce have an MCP server? Yes. Salesforce's hosted MCP servers went GA in the Summer '26 release (June 2026). They create, read, update and delete records, run queries and search, reach Data 360 and Tableau Next, and can expose your own Apex, Flows and prompts. Servers are off by default; an admin enables them under Setup → API Catalog → MCP Servers.

Try asking: "Show open Salesforce opportunities closing this quarter by stage."

Best for: sales orgs on Salesforce that want agents working on live CRM data.

11. Intercom: best for customer support context

Does Intercom have an MCP server? Yes. Intercom's server reads conversations, contacts, companies and articles, creates and updates Help Center articles, and adds internal notes. It can't send customer-facing replies. US and EU workspaces have separate endpoints; Australia-hosted workspaces aren't supported.

Try asking: "Find Intercom conversations mentioning refunds this week and add an internal note."

Best for: support leads who want to search conversations and keep help articles current.

Payments and commerce

12. Stripe: best for payments and billing

Does Stripe have an MCP server? Yes. The Stripe MCP server reads and writes across most of the Stripe API: customers, payments, invoices, subscriptions, prices, payment links, refunds and disputes. Refunds and outbound payments need a human to approve them through a link. From 31 October 2026 Stripe says the server stops accepting full secret keys, so connect with OAuth or an Agent API key.

Try asking: "What was our Stripe MRR last month, and which subscriptions churned?"

Best for: founders who want to check revenue, invoices and subscriptions in plain English.

13. PayPal: best for PayPal merchants

Does PayPal have an MCP server? Yes. PayPal's MCP server handles merchant tasks such as invoicing (labelled "Live (early)" because PayPal still notes possible early performance issues), with separate production and sandbox endpoints and a local option (npx @paypal/mcp). Sign in with your PayPal login, or use client credentials.

Try asking: "Create a PayPal invoice for $1,200 to Acme, due in 14 days."

Best for: merchants who invoice through PayPal.

14. Shopify: best for running an online store

Does Shopify have an MCP server? Yes. Shopify's merchant connectors let Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants build a store, manage products, inventory, discounts, orders and customers, and run analytics. You install them from each assistant's app directory rather than pasting a URL. Shopify runs separate developer servers (Dev MCP and storefront servers) for app and theme builders.

Try asking: "List Shopify products with fewer than 10 units in stock."

Best for: Shopify merchants who want an assistant for day-to-day store admin.

Design, website and content

15. Canva: best design server on a free plan

Does Canva have an MCP server? Yes. The Canva AI Connector searches, creates, edits, autofills, exports and comments on designs, on all plans including Free. Resize, autofill, brand kits and brand templates need Canva Pro or above, and some actions use Canva AI credits. Canva was one of the first apps in Claude's connectors directory in July 2025 and a launch partner for apps in ChatGPT in October 2025.

Try asking: "Make an Instagram post in Canva announcing our new feature, in our brand kit."

Best for: marketers making social graphics and decks from a prompt.

16. Figma: best for design-to-code

Does Figma have an MCP server? Yes. Figma's remote server gives assistants design context (variables, components, layout), generates code, supports Code Connect and FigJam diagrams, and can write to the canvas (in beta). It's on all plans, but View and Collab seats get 20 tool calls a month; Dev and Full seats get 200 a day on Professional and Organization, and 600 on Enterprise.

Try asking: "Turn this Figma frame into a React component using our design tokens."

Best for: product teams handing designs to engineers or coding agents.

17. Webflow: best for managing a marketing site

Does Webflow have an MCP server? Yes. Webflow's server reads and writes pages, elements, styles, components, CMS collections and items, assets and custom code. Each authorisation covers one workspace, and some Designer actions need the Designer open.

Try asking: "Draft a new Webflow CMS blog item from this outline and leave it unpublished."

Best for: marketing teams that publish CMS content and landing pages on Webflow.

Data, files and automation

18. Airtable: best for operational databases

Does Airtable have an MCP server? Yes. Airtable's server is available on all plans and reads and writes records, tables, fields, comments, interfaces and automations, following each user's existing base permissions.

Try asking: "Add these 20 rows to the Airtable content calendar and tag them by channel."

Best for: ops teams that run trackers, CRMs and content calendars in Airtable.

19. Box: best for enterprise file access

Does Box have an MCP server? Yes. The Box MCP server is GA. It searches, reads and summarises files, answers Box AI questions across them, extracts metadata, and creates files, folders and shared links. It needs a Business plan or above, and an admin enables it in the Admin Console.

Try asking: "Find the latest signed MSA with Acme in Box and summarise the renewal terms."

Best for: companies whose contracts and documents live in Box.

20. Zapier: best for apps without their own server

Does Zapier have an MCP server? Yes. Zapier MCP lets an assistant run actions across 9,000+ apps through one connection. It's included in every Zapier plan, and each call costs 2 tasks from your allowance (failed calls are free).

Try asking: "When a deal closes in HubSpot, use Zapier to add the customer to our accounting app."

Best for: connecting the long tail of tools that don't have an official MCP server yet.

Product and engineering

21. GitHub: best for code and pull requests

Does GitHub have an MCP server? Yes. The remote GitHub MCP server went GA on 4 September 2025 and is available on every GitHub plan. It covers repos, issues, pull requests, Actions, code security and projects, with configurable toolsets and a read-only mode.

Try asking: "Review the open GitHub pull requests on the api repo and summarise the risks."

Best for: engineering teams reviewing PRs and triaging issues with AI.

22. Sentry: best for debugging production errors

Does Sentry have an MCP server? Yes. Sentry's server searches errors, analyses performance and triages issues, and can be scoped to one organisation or project. Remote connections use OAuth only.

Try asking: "What's the most frequent unresolved Sentry error in production this week?"

Best for: developers who want error context inside their coding assistant.

23. Supabase: best for querying your product database

Does Supabase have an MCP server? Yes. Supabase's server runs SQL, applies migrations, manages Edge Functions and surfaces database advisors. Supabase warns that connecting an AI to your projects carries security risks and recommends read-only mode and project scoping for production data.

Try asking: "How many Supabase users signed up in the last 7 days? (read-only mode)"

Best for: technical founders asking questions of their app's database.

24. PostHog: best for product analytics

Does PostHog have an MCP server? Yes. PostHog's server runs analytics queries, triages errors, and manages feature flags and experiments. It's free to connect, offers a read-only mode, and one URL routes to the US or EU region automatically. AI-powered tools may count as PostHog AI usage.

Try asking: "What's our PostHog activation rate this month compared with last month?"

Best for: product teams that want answers from their analytics without writing queries.

In beta, in preview, or not yet released

  • Square (beta): Square's server exposes the Square API for customers, orders, catalog, payments and inventory. The remote server reaches production data only, so Square recommends testing with its local server in sandbox first.
  • Google Workspace (Developer Preview): Google's Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar and Chat MCP servers are in Developer Preview. You enable each one in a Google Cloud project with your own OAuth client. The Gmail server can search, read and draft, but has no send tool. Claude's built-in Gmail, Drive and Calendar connectors are built by Anthropic, not Google.
  • Microsoft 365 (preview): Microsoft's Work IQ MCP servers for Mail, Calendar, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Word need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence and admin consent. Microsoft says preview features aren't for production use.
  • Zendesk (not released): Zendesk has no general-purpose MCP server yet. Its MCP products today are an MCP client early-access programme, which lets Zendesk call other servers, and an early-access support app for ChatGPT.

Developer-only or partial: QuickBooks has a local, sandbox-only early-preview server, and Xero publishes a local server for developers; neither offers a hosted server in their docs. Mailchimp's official MCP server covers Transactional email (Mandrill) only, not Marketing. We found no official Squarespace MCP server.

How to choose an MCP server and connect it to Claude or ChatGPT

1. Start with the tools you already pay for. The most useful MCP server sits on your team's real data: your CRM, task tracker and docs. 2. Check plan access before rolling out. Box, Zoom and Microsoft 365 need paid licences; ClickUp and Figma cap usage on lower plans. Where the vendor doesn't state plan rules, test with one account first. 3. Prefer the official remote server. With OAuth, each person signs in as themselves and the assistant sees only what they can already see. Avoid sharing API keys or tokens across a team. 4. Use read-only modes for production data. Linear, GitHub, Supabase and PostHog offer them. 5. Connect it to your assistant. - Claude: add an app from the connectors directory, or add any remote server as a custom connector by pasting its URL. Custom connectors work on every Claude plan; Free users can add one. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds each connector for the organisation and every member signs in with their own account. - ChatGPT: turn on Developer mode on the web under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode, then add the server URL. OpenAI's developer docs list Developer mode for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu accounts. Its help centre says full MCP with write actions is in beta for Business, Enterprise and Edu, and Pro users can connect servers for read and fetch only; it doesn't mention Plus. - Cursor, VS Code and Microsoft Copilot Studio connect to remote MCP servers directly from their settings.

FAQ

What is an MCP server?

An MCP server is a connector that lets an AI assistant read data from, and take actions in, another app using the Model Context Protocol, an open standard Anthropic released in November 2024. The app exposes tools, such as "search issues" or "create invoice", and any MCP-compatible assistant, including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and VS Code, can call them after you sign in.

What are the best MCP servers for business in 2026?

The best are the official servers for the tools your team already uses. For most startups that means HubSpot (CRM; free on all accounts, with some tools needing paid Hubs), Notion or Atlassian (docs and wiki), Linear, Asana, monday.com or ClickUp (work management), Slack (communication), Stripe (payments) and Zapier (everything else). All are vendor-hosted and connect with OAuth.

What is the difference between a remote and a local MCP server?

A remote MCP server is hosted by the vendor at a URL and uses the protocol's Streamable HTTP transport; you connect by signing in. A local server runs on your own computer as a program your assistant launches, usually with an API key. Every live server in our main table is vendor-hosted; Shopify and Canva install from assistants' app directories rather than a pasted URL. Local servers are mostly used by developers.

MCP vs API: what's the difference?

An API is a set of endpoints a developer writes code against. MCP is a standard layer on top that describes an app's actions as tools an AI assistant can discover and call without custom code. Most MCP servers wrap the vendor's existing API; Stripe's server, for example, covers most of the Stripe API.

APIMCP server
Built forDevelopers writing codeAI assistants and agents
How actions are foundRead the docs, then code each callThe assistant asks the server which tools exist
Sign-inAPI keys or OAuth, per integrationOAuth once, per user, in the assistant
ExampleCode a POST /v1/invoices requestAsk "invoice Acme $500" and the assistant calls the create-invoice tool

What is an MCP connector, and are Claude connectors MCP servers?

"Connector" is the name Claude uses for an MCP server you've added to the assistant. Claude's connectors directory is powered by MCP: when you add Notion or Stripe from it, Claude connects to that vendor's MCP server. You can also add any remote MCP server as a custom connector by pasting its URL; Free users can add one, and paid plans can add more.

Which business apps are in Claude's connectors directory?

All 24 live servers profiled here have a listing in Claude's connectors directory, from Notion, Slack and Atlassian to HubSpot, Stripe, Canva and GitHub, and so does Square's beta. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds each connector for the organisation and members sign in individually. Intercom's directory connector serves US workspaces; EU workspaces add Intercom's EU URL as a custom connector.

Can I use MCP servers with ChatGPT?

Yes, through Developer mode on the web. Full MCP with write actions is in beta for Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces; see the connection steps above for individual plans. Many vendors in this list, including Slack, Atlassian, Asana, Stripe, Canva and Airtable, also publish ready-made ChatGPT apps.

How much do MCP servers cost?

Official MCP servers are free to connect; you pay for the app plan you already have. The catches are plan gates and usage caps: Box needs a Business plan, Zoom a paid licence and Microsoft 365 a Copilot licence. ClickUp allows 100 calls a day on Free Forever, Figma 20 calls a month on View and Collab seats, and Zapier charges 2 tasks per call.

Which MCP servers work on a free plan?

monday.com, ClickUp (100 calls a day), Airtable, Canva, Figma (20 calls a month on View and Collab seats), GitHub, HubSpot, Supabase and PostHog all work on their free plans. Stripe's works on any Stripe account, and Zapier MCP is included on every plan at 2 tasks per call.

Are MCP servers safe to connect to business data?

Official remote servers are the safer option because they use OAuth: each user signs in and the assistant sees only what that person can already access. The main risk is prompt injection, where content the assistant reads tells it to take an action. Use read-only modes where offered, keep manual approval of actions turned on, and give access per user rather than through shared keys.

Does Google Workspace or Gmail have an official MCP server?

Not a generally available one. Google's MCP servers for Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar and Chat are in Developer Preview and need your own Google Cloud project and OAuth client. Claude's built-in Gmail, Google Drive and Google Calendar connectors are built by Anthropic, not Google.

Does Zendesk have an MCP server?

No. Zendesk hasn't released a general-purpose MCP server. It offers an MCP client early-access programme, which lets Zendesk connect to other MCP servers, and an early-access customer-support app for ChatGPT. Intercom and Freshdesk both have official servers.

How do I build my own MCP server?

Start with the official Model Context Protocol documentation, which has SDKs and quickstarts. Host it at a public HTTPS URL using the Streamable HTTP transport, protect it with OAuth 2.1 as the spec's authorization section describes, and publish its metadata to the official MCP Registry so directories can find it.

Where can I find a list of official MCP servers?

The official MCP Registry is the protocol's central catalogue of public servers, but it's in preview and mainly feeds other directories. For business apps, the vendor's own developer docs, linked in the tables above, are the most reliable source of the current endpoint and plan rules.

Update log: first published 10 October 2026. Next scheduled review: January 2027, or sooner when a vendor announces a change.
