Maarket.ai guide to 15 Product Hunt alternatives, featuring BetaList, Uneed, Fazier, TinyLaunch, Peerlist Launchpad and DevHunt.

Last verified: 20 October 2026. Every price, rule and format below was checked against each platform's own site, FAQ or guidelines on this date. Backlink and authority claims are the platforms' own; we haven't measured them. Prices in USD.

By Kabandi Saikia, co-founder and Chief M-aa-rket-er at maarket.ai, who tracks Product Hunt's weekly leaderboard for maarket.ai's founder digest. Disclosure: maarket.ai (#8) is our own platform. It's included on the same criteria as every other entry, and it isn't placed first. No other platform paid for inclusion, and this page carries no affiliate links.

Quick answer: Launch on Product Hunt, but don't rely on it alone: pair it with free communities and a few smaller launch platforms, then list in directories that keep sending discovery. The best Product Hunt alternatives in 2026 are Hacker News (Show HN) and Reddit (free), BetaList (pre-launch), Uneed, Fazier, TinyLaunch and Microlaunch (launch leaderboards), Peerlist Launchpad and DevHunt (builders and developers), There's An AI For That (AI tools), and SaaSHub and AlternativeTo (directories). Product Hunt itself is free, but homepage featuring is curated.

What is Product Hunt, and what counts as an alternative?

Product Hunt is a free website where makers launch new tech products and its community upvotes and comments on them, on a leaderboard that resets every 24 hours. A Product Hunt alternative is any place a founder can put a new product in front of early users. They fall into four types, and most launches use more than one:

  • Launch platforms (BetaList, Uneed, Fazier, TinyLaunch, Peerlist Launchpad, DevHunt, Microlaunch) run daily, weekly or monthly leaderboards like Product Hunt's.
  • Communities (Hacker News Show HN, Indie Hackers, Reddit) are discussion forums where you post the product and talk to users.
  • Directories (There's An AI For That, SaaSHub, AlternativeTo, maarket.ai) keep a permanent listing that people find later through search or comparisons.
  • Deal marketplaces (AppSumo) sell your product, usually as a discounted lifetime deal.

Top picks by goal

What 9 weeks of Product Hunt data tells founders

We record Product Hunt's weekly leaderboard every Monday for maarket.ai's weekly digest, scraping the public weekly and daily boards. Across nine weeks (W34 to W42, 17 August to 18 October 2026):

  • The weekly #1 lands between 476 and 586 upvotes. Peaks ran 553, 503, 512, 528, 586, 546, 476, 572 and 581. A top-of-week launch needs roughly 500 upvotes, a high bar for a first-time founder without an existing audience.
  • Big brands don't win by default. In the week of 12–18 October, nine launches from large companies and established products (including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, Spotify, Notion and Tesla) shipped, and only Google's EmbeddingGemma 2 reached the weekly top 10, at #8. In the week before, the best-placed AI model launch, Claude Haiku 5.5, finished 13th, behind twelve independent launches.
  • Paid placements sit alongside launches. For six consecutive weeks, unranked promoted placements on the daily boards showed figures above the weekly #1. In the week of 12–18 October, three of them displayed vote counts between 722 and 915, against 581 upvotes for the weekly #1. That's ad inventory, not organic launches, but it competes for the same attention.
  • Around 95 to 115 products appear on the boards each week. Product Hunt's default homepage view shows featured products only, and its team decides what's featured.

What it means: Product Hunt is still the best-known single launch day, but only one product a week finishes #1 and its homepage cycle resets every 24 hours. Founders who also launch on smaller platforms and list in directories get several smaller spikes plus ongoing discovery.

Is Product Hunt still worth it?

Usually yes, as one stop in a launch sequence rather than the only one. Product Hunt is free to launch on, and its own guidance is to launch at 12:01 am Pacific Time for a full 24 hours on the homepage; it says weekend launches get 15% more "Visit" clicks. But its team curates which launches are featured, judging them on being useful, novel, well crafted and creative, and upvotes alone don't decide it. Waitlist-only products, directories, templates, courses and services aren't featured. If your product falls in one of those groups, or you can't rally around 500 upvotes, the alternatives below matter more.

How we picked: a platform qualified if founders can submit their own product, it publishes its rules or pricing on its own site, and it puts new products in front of an audience, through a leaderboard, community, directory or deals marketplace. We excluded paid listing farms, platforms whose official domain we couldn't confirm, and review sites such as G2 and Capterra, which suit products with existing customers rather than launches. Other AI directories (such as Futurepedia) work like There's An AI For That. The list is grouped by type; the numbers are for navigation, not a ranking.

Launch platforms (Product Hunt-style)

1. BetaList: best for pre-launch startups

Is BetaList free? No: "There is no free submission option," and prices appear at the end of the submission form. BetaList features tech startups that are unreleased, in private beta or recently launched, and you can be featured twice: pre-launch and at launch. Featured startups can add Boost at $99 a week or $199 a month. Visitors must be able to sign up, download or log in; agencies, blogs, templates and app-store-only links aren't accepted. You get a full refund if you're not selected.

Best for: collecting early-adopter sign-ups before launch.

2. Uneed: best cheap daily launch

Is Uneed free? Yes: join the line and Uneed assigns a launch date between 30 days and 5 months out. Uneed Fast-track ($14.99) gets a slot in about 14 days, and Skip the line ($29.99) lets you choose your date. Launches compete on daily, weekly, monthly and yearly leaderboards. Uneed advertises a do-follow backlink; free launches must reach an upvote score on launch day to keep it, while paid launches always keep it.

Best for: founders who want a fixed launch date for under $30.

3. Fazier: best fast, low-cost launch

Is Fazier free? Yes: the Basic plan lists your product within 30 days, but you must add a backlink to Fazier on your site. Fazier Lite ($29) lets you publish now or schedule a date, and Premium ($49) adds 15 days of cross-platform promotion and a guaranteed backlink. The prices are shown as discounts from higher list prices.

Best for: quick, cheap launches on a daily leaderboard.

4. TinyLaunch: best for budget launches

Is TinyLaunch free? Yes: the Standard Launch is free in a standard queue, and the top three of each launch period get a badge and backlink. TinyLaunch Premium ($39 per launch) skips the queue, guarantees the backlink and rotates your product into a showcase slot between third and fourth place.

Best for: founders stacking several low-cost launches.

5. Peerlist Launchpad: best for builders with a Peerlist profile

Is Peerlist Launchpad free? Peerlist's help pages describe no paid tier. Peerlist Launchpad runs weekly: launches open on Monday and run for the week, shown in random order on Monday and Tuesday. Ranking combines upvotes, comments, views, link visits and traction, and votes from verified profiles count more. You need a verified individual Peerlist profile and must own the product; only the week's top five get a backlink.

Best for: makers already active in Peerlist's builder network.

6. DevHunt: best for developer tools

Is DevHunt free? Yes: a free listing gives you a permanent page with a nofollow link. DevHunt is a launchpad for developer tools with weekly voting; the most votes at the end of the week wins, and winners get the newsletter, social mentions and a badge. Launch ($19 one-time) lets you choose your week, adds a newsletter spot and makes the link dofollow; Boosted is $49.

Best for: dev tools, APIs and open-source projects. Non-developer tools are shown but not included in the vote.

7. Microlaunch: best for 30 days of visibility

How much does Microlaunch cost? Launch Pro is $39 (shown down from $49) and Launch Plus $79. Microlaunch ranks products over a whole month rather than a single day, with weekly and monthly leaderboards and community "Roasts" (critiques). Paid launches include choosing your date, boosts, SEO pages and, per Microlaunch, do-follow backlinks; its pages don't say whether a free tier exists.

Best for: founders who want a launch that builds over a month instead of 24 hours.

8. maarket.ai: best for ongoing discovery after launch day

Is maarket.ai free? Yes: listing is free. maarket.ai is a community-ranked directory where products are ranked in their category by Karma Points rather than a one-day vote. Points come partly from completing your profile (listing, demo video, FAQs, deals, MCP-native and agent-ready flags earn +5 each) and partly from ongoing activity: +5 per review, +2 per "I use this" or recommendation and +1 per click. Paid plans (from $199/mo) add banners, a homepage spotlight and newsletter features; the pricing page says they don't directly change rankings, though traffic from paid placements can add click points. On 19 October 2026 it listed 722 products across 28 categories, the largest being MCP Servers and AI Agents.

Best for: AI tools, MCP servers and SaaS products that want to keep being found after launch week.

Communities

9. Hacker News Show HN: best free launch for technical products

What is Show HN? A Hacker News post whose title starts with "Show HN", for "something you've made that other people can play with." It's free. The rules exclude landing pages, sign-up pages, fundraisers and blog posts; people should be able to try it without signing up or handing over an email. You must have built it and be around to answer comments, and you shouldn't ask friends to upvote.

Best for: developer tools and technical products with a live demo.

10. Indie Hackers: best for bootstrapped founders

Is Indie Hackers free? Yes, you can add your product to its Products Database for free with an account. The database lets founders filter "thousands of profitable businesses and side projects" by category, business model and Stripe-verified revenue, and the forum is where launch and milestone posts get discussion.

Best for: sharing your build story and revenue milestones with other founders.

11. Reddit: best for niche audiences

Can I launch my startup on Reddit? Yes, in subreddits that allow it, such as r/SideProject and r/startups, but each subreddit sets its own self-promotion rules. Read the rules in each community's sidebar before posting, lead with what you learned or built rather than a pitch, and reply to comments. Niche subreddits for your users' profession often beat general startup ones.

Best for: reaching a specific user community, not other founders.

Directories and marketplaces

12. There's An AI For That: best for AI tools

How much does it cost to list on There's An AI For That? $49 one-time for a permanent listing, or $437 one-time for maximum exposure, which includes a guaranteed spot in its newsletter (2.5 million+ subscribers, per the site). There's An AI For That also picks one free tool per monthly thread on X. A $300 advertising bonus applies only if your tool hasn't appeared on any other platform before launching there.

Best for: AI tools that want a permanent listing in a large AI directory.

13. SaaSHub: best SaaS alternatives directory

Is SaaSHub free? Submitting is free, but every product goes through approval, and verifying with an email on your product's domain gives it priority. SaaSHub lists products against their alternatives; products with no listed competitors go to the bottom of the queue. Featured placement is $99 a month, cancel anytime.

Best for: SaaS products people compare against well-known incumbents.

14. AlternativeTo: best for being found as an alternative

How do I add my app to AlternativeTo? Sign up and choose "Suggest new application"; approval usually takes a few days to a week. AlternativeTo ranks apps by user votes on "alternative to X" pages; paid or fake upvotes can get you demoted. Advertising is arranged by email.

Best for: products positioned as an alternative to a known app.

15. AppSumo: best for selling a lifetime deal

How does AppSumo work for founders? There's no upfront fee: AppSumo takes a revenue share negotiated per deal. AppSumo accepts about 10% of applicants and wants a working product (not beta) for small businesses, marketers, creators or agencies. Standard campaigns run about 60 days. Lifetime deals are common but not required.

Best for: products that want revenue and early customers, and can support a wave of deal buyers.

Key terms in this guide

  • Featured (Product Hunt): chosen by Product Hunt's team to appear on the default homepage view. Unfeatured launches are still listed, but get far less visibility.
  • Upvote: a community vote that moves a product up a leaderboard.
  • Skip the line / fast-track: a paid option that gives you an earlier or chosen launch date instead of waiting in a free queue.
  • Dofollow vs nofollow backlink: a dofollow link passes search-ranking credit to your site; a nofollow link doesn't. Platforms' backlink and "DR" (domain rating) claims are their own marketing figures.
  • Show HN: a Hacker News post format for sharing something people can try right away.
  • Lifetime deal: a one-time payment for permanent access, the typical AppSumo format.
  • Karma Points (maarket.ai): points from profile completeness and user activity that rank products in a maarket.ai category.

A simple launch plan using these platforms

  1. Four or more weeks before launch: list on BetaList (if pre-launch) and add a waitlist. If you're launching an AI tool and want There's An AI For That's $300 ad bonus, list there first, before any other platform. Join the Uneed line or book a date on Fazier, TinyLaunch or DevHunt.
  2. Launch week: launch on Product Hunt at 12:01 am Pacific Time. Post a Show HN if people can try the product without signing up, and share your build story on Indie Hackers and relevant subreddits.
  3. The following weeks: run your daily and weekly launches on separate days so each gets its own attention.
  4. Ongoing: list on directories that keep sending discovery after launch week (SaaSHub, AlternativeTo, maarket.ai) and collect reviews and "I use this" signals from real users.
  5. When you're ready to sell: apply to AppSumo once the product is stable and support is ready for an influx of customers.

Is Product Hunt free?

Yes. Launching on Product Hunt is free. Its paid products are ads (feed ads, billboard ads and newsletter sponsorships), priced on request. Being featured on the homepage is decided by Product Hunt's team, not by payment.

Is Product Hunt still worth it in 2026?

Yes, as part of a launch sequence. It's still the best-known single launch day, but homepage featuring is curated and a weekly #1 has needed between 476 and 586 upvotes, based on our tracking of nine weeks of leaderboards. Combine it with smaller launch platforms and directories.

What is the best time to launch on Product Hunt?

Product Hunt recommends launching at 12:01 am Pacific Time, when its 24-hour homepage cycle resets. It also says weekend launches get 15% more "Visit" button clicks.

Where can I launch my startup for free?

Product Hunt, Hacker News Show HN, Reddit, Indie Hackers, Peerlist Launchpad and maarket.ai (our platform) are free. Uneed, Fazier, TinyLaunch and DevHunt have free options with a queue or limits, and SaaSHub and AlternativeTo accept free submissions subject to approval.

Where should I launch an AI tool?

Product Hunt plus There's An AI For That ($49 one-time listing) is a common pairing; list on There's An AI For That first if you want its launch bonus. DevHunt suits AI developer tools, and maarket.ai (our platform) has AI Agents and MCP Servers as its largest categories.

Where should I launch a developer tool?

Hacker News Show HN (free, if people can try it without signing up) and DevHunt (weekly voting for developer tools, $19 for a dofollow launch) are built for dev tools, alongside Product Hunt.

Can I launch on several platforms?

Yes, and most founders do. Space launches across different days so each gets its own attention. One exception: There's An AI For That's $300 advertising bonus applies only if your tool hasn't appeared on another platform first.

Many say they do, but terms vary and these are the platforms' own claims. Uneed, Microlaunch and DevHunt advertise dofollow links on paid launches, Fazier guarantees a backlink on Premium and above, TinyLaunch on Premium, and several give links to top-ranked free launches; DevHunt's free listing is nofollow; Peerlist links only the week's top five.

Update log: first published 20 October 2026; AEO pass the same day added a definition of Product Hunt alternatives by type and a key-terms glossary. Prices and rules change often on these platforms, especially introductory discounts; next scheduled review: December 2026.
